LittleVille's beliefs and values

Children are active learners and they learn from their everyday interactions such as social interactions with adults and peers as well as physical interactions with the environment. These interactions influence their emotional well-being, language development and physical health. They also shape every child's personality and understanding of the world.

Therefore, I believe that children learn through play and hands-on activities, and these experiences allow children to realize their potential. Every child learns in his/her own unique way and educator should follow children's lead in play and be flexible to let children make their own decisions and mistakes. I also believe that parents are child's first and foremost teachers. Parental involvement and open ongoing communication are essential for creating a supportive environment.

Program Curriculum

to support early learning

LittleVille program provides the curriculum that focuses on each individual child's developmental level. The activities and toys are provided to suit children's needs in order to support and promote their holistic development, i.e. physical, intellectual, social, and emotional.

Setup of the room includes different areas of interest such as dramatic play area, a book corner, blocks, vehicles, math and science area, manipulative toys, sand/water tables, art and crafts. Planned curriculum helps to set up the environment and give children plenty of choices. It also eliminates inappropriate behaviours. The curriculum planning is based on the observations of children. As children's interests shift, toys are replaced to support their new curiosities.

Children learn best in a safe and clean environment. Structured day helps children to feel safe. Therefore, LittleVille's residents love this duly structured, but flexible daily schedule:

Health and Nutrition

to support brain development

In order to foster children's learning skills LittleVille provides nutritious homemade and partially organic meals every day. This includes: breakfast, lunch and two snacks. Breakfast is served as child arrives between 7 am and 8:30 am in the morning. First snack is served between 10:00 am and 10:30 am with lunch provided between 12 pm and 12:30 pm. Finally, the second snack is offered between 3 pm and 3:30 pm. A third one item snack such as apple, banana or a cracker can be provided if a child feels hungry and if it does not interrupt child's family supper plans.

Meals are planned for 1 week and are posted for parents to review. Dietary restrictions (allergies, personal choices) will be discussed and included in planning with available substitutions provided. Candies and sugary treats are allowed only for special events. If they are provided as a birthday treat this will be discussed prior to the event. Water is available to children at all times and milk is provided at lunchtime.

The food that children eat is important. It is critical for their brain development and it affects their cognitive skills and focus throughout the day.

Physical Health and well-being

for stronger mind and body

Physical health is essential for all children. Active day and proper physical activities influence children's growth, mental health, behaviours, eating habits, sleep, play and learning. It also teaches them safety techniques and communications skills. Planned and spontaneous physical activities are part of the LittleVille's curriculum.

LittleVille's residents stay active throughout the day as the program offers a well organized outdoor space. Children enjoy a climbing structure, a basketball set, a sandbox/water table, bean bags games, and other toys to keep them active. The outdoor space also offers a picnic area.

Hours of Operation and Fees

LittleVille is open for its residents Tuesday to Friday from 7:00 am until 5:30 pm and closed on the following Statutory Holidays:

*LittleVille's hours of operation on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are from 7 am to 3 pm.
